Kota Balikpapan - Balikpapan or the City of Balikpapan is a city of East Kalimantan, lies on the east coast of the island of Borneo. Kota Balikpapan is recognized as the second city in East Kalimantan, after Samarinda with total population of 656.417 people per 1 July 2013. The City has a total area of 503.3 km2 and administratively divided into 6 districts, namely Balikpapan Timur, Balikpapan Selatan, Balikpapan Tengah, Balikpapan Utara, Balikpapan Barat, and Balikpapan Kota. The City of Balikpapan is bordered by Kutai Kartanegara Regency (to the North), Makassar Strait (to the South and East), and North Penajam Paser Regency (to the West). The City of Balikpapan is lead by a Mayor, and since 2011 held by Rizal Effendi.
