The Association of Southeast Asian Nations - ASEAN is a reputable intergovernmental organization in Regional of Southeast Asia. ASEAN was founded at Bangkok Thailand in 1967 6 countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Philippines. Curently ASEAN comprises by 10 countries in South East Asia Region, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, and Viet Nam. To support the ASEAN's projects and activities, ASEAN establish The ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) that was located Jakarta. ASEC established in 1976 and set up by the Foreign Ministers of ASEAN. Since 2008, Dr Surin Pitsuwan from Thailand become the Secretary-General of ASEAN for 2008-2012 periods.

To support its organic growth, currently The ASEAN Sectretariat (ASEC) is seeking qualified candidates to join as following vacant positions below

Executive Director
Closing Date Status : 15 May 2013

Requirements
  • Be a national of an ASEAN Member State.
  • Preferably have an advanced degree or professional qualifications in an appropriate discipline.
  • Have 10-15 years of professional experience, at least 5 years of which have been at a senior level.
  • Have proven skills in leadership, administration, executive management and planning.
  • Have knowledge of the necessary and relevant background on ASEAN and in diplomatic practices.
  • Have extensive experience in fund-raising and/or management (programme management, financial management).
  • Have the necessary skills to cultivate good working relationship with governments of ASEAN Member States and its partners, relevant international and regional bodies as well as with various sectors, such as foundations and civil society organisations, especially within the Southeast Asian region.
  • Have fluency in English.
Programme Coordinator – JAIF Management Team
Closing Date Status : 18 February 2013

Requirements
  • Graduate/post-graduate degree (minimum Master’s degree), preferably in economics, international relations, development cooperation, or relevant policy area;
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in development cooperation or relevant field;
  • Proven ability in programme/project formulation and management;
  • Proven high-level analytical skills and ability to make effective presentations, write concept papers and project proposals, and prepare clear and concise reports;
  • Strong competence in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly for database/project matrix development and updating;
  • Solid understanding of international and regional issues, knowledge of ASEAN programmes and activities. Knowledge of ASEAN-Japan strategic relations is an advantage;
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings;
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with government representatives, public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders;
  • Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT SOCIAL WELFARE, WOMEN, LABOR & MIGRANT WORKERS (SWWLMW) DIVISION

Requirements
  • Postgraduate degree in Economics, Management or an appropriate related field or discipline with a minimum one (1) year relevant work experience in technical role.
  • Bachelor degree in Economics, Management or an appropriate related field or discipline with a minimum three (3) years relevant work experience in technical role.
  • Technical skills and knowledge in the relevant area or the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire them.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise tasks and work flows, with proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.
  • Sound command of English, written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Japanese language will be an asset.
Senior Programme Officer – JAIF Management Team

Requirements
  • Graduate/Postgraduate degree (minimum Master’s degree), preferably in public policy or development assistance or relevant policy area.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in development cooperation or relevant field.
  • Proven ability in programme/project formulation and management as well as financial and administrative management
  • Solid understanding of international and regional issues, knowledge of ASEAN programmes and activities. Knowledge of ASEAN-Japan strategic relations is an advantage.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with government representatives, public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders

Senior Officer Public Outreach & Civil Society

Requirements
  • At least six (6) years corporate communications experience covering journalism/media relations management, major regional/international events, and outreach activities through traditional and digital means in a regional/international/multilateral setting.
  • Postgraduate Degree in Mass/Public Communications, Journalism, Public/ International
  • Relations or related fields.
  • Excellent command of English, written and spoken. Proven ability for accuracy under pressure, multitask, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Possess a broad spectrum of interpersonal and communications skills in cross-cultural/international settings. Demonstrated skills in problem solving, planning and the development of policies and procedures.
  • Experience in motivating staff and working effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. Demonstrated commitment to collaborative work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with stakeholders and the media.
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position.
Assistant Director/Head Agriculture Industries & Natural Resources Division
Closing Date Status : 15 February 2013

Requirements
  • Post-Graduate Degree in Agriculture, Economics or relevant discipline;
  • Proven experience in research, agriculture/food policy development and negotiation, and in working closely with government officials;
  • A sound understanding of international and regional public health and issues, and knowledge of and commitment to ASEAN ideals;
  • Extensive supervisory experience, within a senior management position with a minimum of eight (8) years high-level experience in a recognised specialized field;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff in a complex work environment;
  • Sound financial, physical and human resource management skills;
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including experience in cross-cultural environment and international settings;
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with public and private sector organisations and other stakeholders;
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaborative work practices;
  • Competency in computer skills with adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook where relevant to the position;
  • Proven ability for accuracy under pressure and adherence to deadlines; and
