Category Leader (Footwear Sourcing)

This position will report to Operations Manager

  • Represent the product category, categories or sub categories at the factory of assignment, managing the development and commercialization process of all assigned products.
  • Oversee the direct development process between headquarter/creation centers (HQ/CC) Project Management and Tier 1 (T1) factory.
Key Responsibilities:

Professional content
  • Continuously build up category specific competence within the team, and be the spokesperson for the category in the operations centre (OC).
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers in continuous upgrades of technical applications and processes including the development and implementation of new technologies.
  • Oversee the HQ/CC to T1 direct development process on all allocated products. This includes leading regular product review meetings with T1 factory teams, and driving for resolutions in critical and pending issues as defined by the escalation management process.
  • Continuously assess and build up T1 technical capabilities and capacities according to the agreed category requirements and desired performance levels.
  • Works with all related parties (e.g. Development, Planning, Production) to deliver all samples and final products on time in full (OTIF) according to customer expectations
  • Ensure that Liaison Office (LO) and T1 resources are balanced to accommodate the category needs and focus at all times, including allocating workloads and projects
  • Ensure all products are developed with emphasis on performance, quality and integrity and at the same time engineered with focus on productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Take an active role in the costing process and, in conjunction with Liaison Office (LO), and Operation Centre (OC) Costing Leaders work to ensure costing processes are followed and that accurate Costing Breakdown can be provided on time.
  • Understand and implement all adidas policies and guidelines pertaining to the sourcing of footwear product.
  • Understands and implements all transfer policies ensuring product integrity is maintained at all times with minimal or no delay in production timing.
  • Use good judgment in all situations in determining when to be principle centered vs. policy driven following the spirit of the adidas Standards.

Managerial content
  • Establish a team-based culture where effective teamwork is key focus,
  • Evaluate the competencies and job performance of subordinates on a regular basis with regard to their performance and potential. Allocate project work to team taking into consideration the team’s experience, the complexity of the product and overall workload.
  • Actively coach and support your team members to further their skills and capabilities in all areas.
  • Take on additional management responsibilities and tasks as agreed upon with the Operations Manager.

  • Four year college or university degree.
  • At least 5 years of related work experience in the athletic footwear industry in a technical capacity with managerial experience.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in the footwear industry Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong understanding of footwear manufacturing, including pattern engineering, mold making, grading, materials processing, etc.
  • Good understanding of costing principles.
  • Ability to create, plan and deliver presentations.
  • MS Office skills
  • Excellent oral and written English,
  • Prefer Indonesia Citizenship Holder
Assistant Manager, Production (Footwear Sourcing)

This position will report to Manager, Production.

Responsible for all production operations in assigned factory

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures all production meets adidas quality standards.
  • Implements all process controls and procedures.
  • Ensures manufacturers are fully aware of quality needs.
  • Works with factories to improve quality and manufacturing efficiencies, encourages investment in modern manufacturing machinery and techniques.
  • Ensures adidas delivery objectives are met.
  • Works closely with development, commercialization and technical departments to ensure on time production start of new models.
  • Works with planning customer service ensuring accurate and timely communication of order status and production issues.
  • Manages all direct reports. Assists in establishing career paths for key individuals.
  • Ensures all direct reports are fully trained in adidas procedures (includes inspector training program).
  • Ensures factories comply with adidas SOE (Standards of Engagement)
  • Ensures factories comply with local labour laws, reports back any violations.
  • Ensures manufacturers comply with fire and health and safety regulations, reports back and follows up on any short-comings and abuses
Key Relationships
Educates supplier with adidas business needs and objectives, maintain a positive factory relationship via day to day communication and positive participation

  • Degree from educational entity focusing on shoemaking or engineering.
  • At least 3 years experience in Footwear production.
  • Experience in Footwear Development
  • Hands on in shoe technical background
  • IT knowledge (basic office applications, competent in the using of Word. Excel).
  • Effective communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English,
  • Prefer Indonesia Citizenship Holder
