Qatalum is the largest Greenfield Aluminium project ever to be executed. The project is a 50/50 Joint Venture between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Hydro. When the plant comes in operation in late 2009 it will be one of the largest and most competitive primary aluminium plants in the world, with a production capacity of 585,000 MT per year. The smelter, casthouse, carbon and power plant will employ between 1100 - 1200 people. The plant is located at Mesaieed in Qatar, some 40 kilometers from the capital Doha. We are currently looking for highly qualified staff to join us in building this world-class organization.

EC & I Maintenance Superintendent

Reporting to Power Plant Maintenance Manager and fully responsible for leading the EC & I Maintenance team to upkeep all aspects of EC & I in Qatalum’s Power Plant
Requirements: 5-10 years experience in a power plant environment preferably in large combined cycle generation. Ability to methodically think through technical problems

Senior Electrical and C&I Engineer

The Electrical and Control Systems Engineer position reports to the Power Group Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing technical support for all the Electrical and Control Systems within Qatalum’s and HV Distribution System Power Plant
Requirements: 5-10 years combined cycle power plant operational or commissioning experience with well developed investigative and statistical data analysis skills

Overhauls Superintendent

The Overhauls Superintendent position reports to the Power Group Engineering Manager and responsible for the preparation, execution, control and technical completion of the Power Plant Overhauls
Requirements: 5-10 years combined cycle power plant operational or commissioning experience with well developed investigative and statistical data analysis skills with strategic thinking being an advantage

HV Rectifiers Technician

Reporting to the Rectifier Engineer and responsible to undertake all scheduled/unscheduled work related to the Rectifier Systems
Requirements: 5-10 years experience with High Voltage equipment, relevant technical qualifications and experience with rectifiers

HV Operations Technicians

Reporting to the HV Distribution Superintendent and responsible for the operation of Qatalum’s HV Distribution and Rectifier Systems
Requirement: 5-10 years experience with operating High Voltage distribution, rectifiers and utilities

HV Distributions Technicians

Reporting to the HV Distribution Superintendent responsible to perform all scheduled & unscheduled work within the HV Distribution Systems
Requirements: 5-10 years experience with operating high voltage distribution, rectifiers and utilities

HV Electrical Technician

Reporting to the HV Planner and responsible to execute all scheduled/unscheduled work across Qatalum’s HV Distribution & Rectifiers Systems
Requirements: 5-10 years experience with high voltage distribution equipment with well developed diagnostic & maintenance skills on a variety of high voltage electrical systems such as process control of large capacity rectifier systems, HV.

HV Distribution Planner

Reporting to the HV Distribution Manager and fully responsible for all aspects of planning of the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work activities for the HV Distribution Department
Requirements: 3-5 years maintenance planning and schedulling experience within a power plant environment
