PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) operates a coal mine in Sangatta, East Kalimantan and is one of the largest coat mines in the world. Plans are underway for further expansion in 2011 and beyond to bring optimum economic return to the company and its stakeholder. Vacancies exist for the position of:


MANAGER-MINE PLANNING

Key elements of the position include:

  • Manage the short to long term mine planning functions to comply with the board context statement and to maximize net present value of the resources / reserves
  • Review and analyse systems, projects, equipment selections and operations and monitor perfomance against budgets and plans.
  • Monitor the operational divisions and their compliance with the mine plan, track actual against plan and suggest techniques for achieving compliance.
  • Recommend business improvements and technological upgrades to the General Manager Development and Planning.
  • Keep ud to date with work issues, monitor the effectiveness of the departement and the employees/tools used, maximise efficiencies and recommend improvements
  • Transfer skills, both managerial and technical, to subordinate staff, and to continue their development.
  • Take responsibility for the compilation of annual Five Year and Life Of Mine Plans

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mine Engineering / Civil Engineering
  • Extensive experience (10 years) and proven skills in mine planning, in particular involving open cut coal mining operations.
  • Financial skills to handle capital appropriation, costing and budget responsibility.
  • proven experience in managing Mine Planning teams.
  • Superior written ad oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and report writing skills
  • At least 5 year in a senior / superintendent level role
  • Good leadership and People management skills
  • A commitment to KPC safety and environment regulations
SUPERINTENDENT - OHS INFORMATION & MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Key elements of the position include:

  • Lead the OHS Information & Management System Section activities to ensure quality services provided to all KPC divisions, departments and contractors.
  • Coordinate development, review, update, and publication of KPC Prima Nirbhaya OHS Management System, standards, and requirements to ensure that the system meets OHSAS18001, legal and other relevant requirements and supports the achievement of KPC OHS goals and targets.
  • Manage documentations and records related to KPC PN OHS Management System to ensure security, availability and accessibility for relevant parties, traceability for audit and review purposes.
  • Co-ordinate implementation of Prinutama/Intelex, Prinasa, HSE Info, and any other safety related system/software throughout the KPC and major Contractor.
  • Coordinate and conduct analysis and evaluation of Occupational Health and Safety statistics (e.g. incidents, Prinasa, regular workplace inspections, etc) regularly and/or as required, and provide advises to Manager OHS for further development of strategic improvement plan.
  • Review quality of incident and workplace/area inspection to ensure sufficient information is covered, reported and followed up within time frame.
  • Manage good communication and liaison with Intelex Canada and other system/software providers/suppliers for technical issues, support, maintenance, training, and necessary updates of system/software used at KPC.
  • Control the administrative set-up of Prinutama/Intelex, Prinasa, HSE Info and Traffic Offence system i.e. coordinate collection of relevant data, system configuration, allocation of user security privileges, information update, etc.
  • Monitor Prinutama/Intelex and Statistic in relation to: frequency of usage on site, correct use and functionality, identification of technical problem, request for enhancement.
  • Distribute Prinasa and traffic offence progress and other risk management information to HSE Coordinator and other relevant parties.
  • Co-ordinate the maintenance and upgrading of the database supporting Prinutama/Intelex, HSE Info, Prinasa and Traffic Offence system.
  • Liaise with Division/department HSE representative/coordinator, admin personnel and other key user/key person in relation to their role regarding to Prinutama/Intelex, HSE Info, and Prinasa system.
  • Coordinate the training of HSE Coordinator and other key user of Prinutama/Intelex, HSE Info, and Prinasa.
  • Audit use of Prinutama/Intelex, HSE Info, and Prinasa by work force and develop & implementation action plans to address weakness in its use.
  • Oversee implementation of special reporting through Prinutama/Intelex.
  • Compile progress report status of incident report.
  • Monitor and maintained the use of Safety Database in HSE Info and Company Server throughout the KPC and major Contractor.
  • Provide an up-to-date and actual information, document or record throughout KPC and major contractor.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum S1 in science or relevant field and minimum 5 years working in a mining environment, or D3 with minimum 7 years experience, preferably in a mining environment. Will need 3 – 4 year to become competent
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management System, such as NOSA, OHSAS18001, etc.
  • Through knowledge of the Prima Nirbhaya OHS Management System
  • Good experience in safety management system auditing. Possession of OHSAS18001 Lead Auditor certificate is an advantage.
  • Good mastery of English
  • Good interpersonal skill for liaising with customer
  • Excellent knowledge in computer skill.
  • Experience in developing and/or enhancing web site is an advantage.
  • Full System training on Prinutama/Intelex Administrator is an advantage
SENIOR RISK AUDITOR

Key elements of the position include:

  • Plan and manage to complete auditors’ recommendations with departments involved consistent with the unit’s annual audit plan to meet time, cost and quality parameters, comply with recognized standards and highlight anomalies, should they exist.
  • Prior to the commencement of auditing projects, collect and review documentation such as existing procedures, contracts, job descriptions, financial/payment records and organization charts to gain understanding of the operations, highlight control issues for review that relate to the Risk & Asset Management’s overall objectives.
  • Formulate risk management approach on each project objectives to define the nature, timeframe and scope of each assignment and secure resources necessary for successful completion.
  • Maintain current and complete audit papers and associated documentation on behalf of the unit to ensure the group has accurate and detailed records for reference/research purposes and can provide both management and external organizations with relevant reports.
  • Liaise with external groups such as BUMI GCG and external auditors, to facilitate their visits to KPC, ensure the professional completion of specific assignments, understand their information requirements and comply with regulations.
  • Review the Risk Management & Asset systems, procedures and activities to recommend improvements, the introduction of suitable policies/procedures and provide more effective customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification (S1 degree) in Mining Engineering, Engineering, Business Management/Economic/Accounting with 5 year risk audit experience. Ideally in a large scale corporate environment covering operational Risk & Asset Management audits as well as audit work at a recognized level and exposure in mining industries.
  • Project management skills.
  • Attention to detail together with analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skill (oral & written) in both Bahasa Indonesia and English;
SUPERINTENDENT - OPERATIONAL PURCHASING

Key elements of the position include:

  • Manage the operational purchasing process including ensuring adherence to company policy, code of conduct, setting procedures and controls etc.
  • Oversee the Section’s activities to keep up to date with work issues, monitor the effectiveness of tools and techniques employed, maximize efficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Review and analyze systems, projects and work undertaken by the Section to provide feedback to staff, gauge progress against goal, consistency of approach and initiate new developments, designed to support business objectives.
  • Analyze key suppliers and their respective strengths and weaknesses and design processes to improve supply chain operation.
  • Liaise with overseas and local suppliers and international procurement agencies to purchase general operating materials, negotiate Forward Purchasing Agreements (FPAs), air freight and freight arrangements.
  • Set standard of associated cost to the service provided by service order and facilitate and assist reviews with key service order contractor to improve performance in service quality and total cost.
  • Maintain inventory to the lowest total cost to the Company. Analyze and recommend the best purchasing method that related with inventory management such as managing of lead time by providing accurate requirement plan.
  • Maintain the cataloguing process in order to provide the best information either to internal customer of supplier and support the most informative management data to Manager Supply/Management.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification (S1) in Supply Management, Economy, Law or Engineering with 7 years broad experience and proven skills in purchasing and logistics management.
  • Financial skills to handle costing and budget responsibilities.
  • Negotiation, Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong people management skills, ideally with training in supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English to produce reports and deal with a diverse range of personnel.
  • Computer skills in Ellipse or other computer supply systems.
SUPERINTENDENT - SAFETY MONITORING & COMMISSIONING

Key Elements Of The Position Include:

  • Plan, direct and monitor the section’s activities and staff in order to achieve business goals that are consistent with departmental objectives, occupational health and safety targets and PN requirements.
  • Liaise with contractors and KPC personnel in all divisions to facilitate a better understanding of safety, occupational health and PN requirements and oversee the monitoring of their adherence to those requirements, the identification of problem areas and recommendations on improvement strategies.
  • Provide advice and guidance to KPC and contractor management and safety co-ordinators on the implementation of PN occupational health and safety management systems and standards in the workplace, and ensure they are being implemented consistently across the site.
  • Assist the manager in the development of the annual business plan and the prioritizing of departmental tasks.
  • Assist KPC & contractor management in the investigation of major accidents on site to determine immediate and root causes, check for safety breaches and to recommend improvement strategies. Audit the implementation of recommendations arising from accident/incident investigations.
  • Advise and guide staff on safety issues to raise their awareness of current industry practices and to develop their skills in this field.
  • Manage, appraise and evaluate employees to provide individual performance feedback, arrange training programs to enhance their professional development as well as raise the general skill level within the section.
  • Oversee and manage specific safety initiatives and programs, improve identified shortcomings and investigate specific issues.
  • Communicate regularly, through meetings and informal discussions, with all employees within the section to advise them of work priorities, address specific issues and enhance the effectiveness of operations.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Manager OHS to be informative and demonstrate accountability.
  • Represent KPC at domestic & regional safety forums in order to contribute to the forum’s objectives and to enhance one’s own knowledge of OHS issues.
  • Ensure appropriate safety procedures and standards are in place and that KPC and contractor employees are made aware of them.
  • Develop SWP and other safety policy used across KCP sites, socialized and monitor the implementation. Observe, analyze and develop the changes of these may be required due to the changes of the practical conditions if the field.
  • Identify the problems related in safety implementation at all divisions by discussing with Divisional Safety Co-ordinators.
  • Leading in the finding the best problem solving, monitor and control the implementation.
  • Liaise with representative of Government, independent auditing institution, and Share Holders for safety audits and system implementation.

Qualifications:

  • S1 Degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Mining Engineering). Post graduate qualifications in safety related area is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years prior experience working as an engineer, preferably in a mining environment is essential. Would require another 3 - 5 years to become competent in this position.
  • Extensive experience and proven skills in the Occupational Health and Safety field, preferably with exposure to the mining (ideally open cut mines) or construction industries. Knowledge/experience with OHSAS18001 is an advantage.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills to liaise with KPC personnel and various external groups.
  • Detailed knowledge of Company and external policies, procedures and regulations impacting safety.
  • Sound decision-making skills to address and handle a wide variety of issues.
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to influence, motivate and lead others.
