Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta - DIY or Yogyakarta Special Administrative Region is a special province in Indonesia situated in Java. The city of Yogyakarta is the capital of the Yogyakarta Special Administrative Region. DIY is is subdivided into 5 regencies/city, namely Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, Gunung Kidul Regency and Kulon Progo Regency. The Region is the second-smallest area of the provinces in Indonesia with an area of 3,133.15 km². Accoding to Badan Pusat Statistic 2010 Cencus, total population of DIY was 3,452,390, increased 10.7% from 3,122,268 in 2000 cencus. The Governor of Yogyakarta Special Administrative Region is Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.
