Kota Tangerang Selatan - Tangsel or the City of South Tangerang is a city of Banten province, Indonesia. Formerly, Kota Tangerang Selatan is a part of Tangerang Regency. In October 2008, Kota Tangerang Selatan officialy separated from Tangerang Regency. The City has a total area of 147.19 km² and administratively divided into 7 districts, namely Serpong, North Serpong, Pondok Aren, Ciputat, East Ciputat, Pamulang and Setu. The centre of Kota Tangerang Selatan is the Ciputat district. According to Statistic Indonesia (BPS) 2010, the City of South Tangerang was reported as having a population of 1,303,569 people. The City of South Tangerang is lead by a Mayor, and since 2011 held by Airin Rachmi Diany and assisted by Benyamin Davnie as a vice mayor.
