Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia - Kemdikbud or the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic Indonesia (previously known as The Ministry of National Education or in Indonesian : Kementerian Pendidikan Nasional - Kemdiknas) is a ministry in the Indonesian government in charge of education and cultural affairs. The Ministry was established in 1945 under the name of Departemen Pengajaran (Department of Teaching) with Ki Hajar Dewantara as the first minister. The name of the Ministry of Education and Culture was launched in October 2011. Kemdikbud is based in Jakarta and headquartered in Jl Jend Sudirman Senayan Jakarta 10270. Since 2009, the Ministry of Education and Culture is headed by Mohammad Nuh as the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), replacing Bambang Sudibyo. He is assisted by two deputy ministers, namely Musliar Kasim as a deputy minister in Education and Wiendu Nuryanti as a deputy minister in Culture.
