Provinsi Jawa Timur - Jatim or the Province of East Java is a province of Indonesia, situated in the eastern part of the island of Java. The provincial capital of Jatim is Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. The Province of East Java has an area of 47,922 km2 and devided into 29 regencies and 9 cities. The Province of East Java bordered to the Java Sea in the north, the Strait of Bali in the east, the Indian Ocean in the south, and Central Java Province in the west. The population of Jatim was recorded at 37,476,011 people at the 2010 Census held by Statistics Indonesia (Indonesian : Badan Pusat Statistik - BPS). The Province of East Java is led by a Governor, and currently held by Soekarwo. He is assisted by Syaifullah Yusuf as a vice Governor.
